Labor of Love Show raises $3,200 for rescue efforts

2680Time to Shine Equestrian Center hosted the Labor of Love Horse Show, benefitting Hope Equine Rescue, on September 5. The event, which featured rescued horses from a variety of non-profit organizations in Central Florida, helped to raise approximately $3,200 for equine currently in the care of Hope Equine Rescue.

“Time to Shine has been nothing but supportive to our organization,” Dani Horton, President of Hope Equine Rescue, said. “They have went above and beyond for us over and over again and being able to work with them has given our horses so much exposure.”

There were 45 horses on hand to participate. Winners included:

Halter Champion Final – Steps Last Chance with Katie Deines

Reserve Champion Halter – Sonny’s Royal Diamond with Taylor Lupo

English Pleasure Champion – Louie with Elizabeth Cooper

Western Pleasure Champion – You Can Call Me Mr. Goober with Meghan Boyette

Volunteers from Hope Equine Rescue were in attendance throughout the day, to not only work the event, but show the rescued horses in various classes. “From parking to people, everything was great,” Patty Scoggins-Jones said. “Even though most of the volunteers were new, they stepped up and took responsibility for caring for their assigned horse and were committed to practicing with them.”

Volunteers practiced showing at Hope Equine Rescue in the months leading up to the show. In addition to those who were there to show horses, others came out just to watch, having no horse of their own.

On average, it takes just over $200 per month to care for each horse at the rescue. To help, donate via PayPal to hopeequinerescue@yahoo.com.
